This photomontage is an amalgamation of various foods. Theres different kinds of foods from different cultures, with different tastes, and are foods that could be considered good for eating at many different times of day. Food is a necessary source of life for all people but unfortunately, not everyone has easy access to food each day. This piece highlights the issue of food insecurity, a social issue and the concept I had in mind when creating my photomontage. In the conetxt of the present day, war is affecting the lives of thousands of people in our world, and with war comes a lack of food. While some individuals are enjoy lavish meals, and produce mountains of food waste, others struggle to find food at any point in the day and are even forced to eat food that's gone out of date.
To create this photomontage, I gathered images sourced from the Wikimedia Commons public photo domain. I utalized selection tools from photoshop to remove the backgrounds of each image and resized the image cutouts to fit into different areas on the canvas. The particular types of food picured in the montage were not exactly that important to the artpiece, but the variety shows that no matter the kind or quality of the food, it still pertains its value as a source of life.
